Brewing news Australia: XXXX Beach to Brewery Walk raises approx A$53k

Lion-Nathan announced on April 4 that after three days and almost 100 kilometres, the XXXX Beach to Brewery Walk has raised approximately $53,000 for those people affected by the devastation of Cyclone Larry.

The walk, which began on Friday 31st March from Surfers Paradise Beach, finally concluded on Sunday afternoon at around 4pm at the XXXX Brewery in Milton

Jacko and Macca, those well known blokes from the XXXX GOLD TV ads, led the walk and were joined by a team of famous faces along the way including Marlin, perhaps the best known dog in Queensland, Natalia the ‘backpacker’ and the Bulls on Sunday afternoon as they made their way to the brewery.

“It was an amazing experience. The support has been great from everyone from the Gold Coast to Brisbane and we thank the public for getting behind this fundraiser,” said Mark Powell, XXXX Regional Director.

“It was great to see all the people who pulled up beside us to donate a few dollars. We had many ‘toots’ and waves of support as we walked – it was tremendous and particularly helped us through the walk on Friday when the weather was really bad.

“Jacko and Macca certainly had a few sore muscles and blisters but were more than happy to celebrate with a couple of beers when we finally made it through the brewery gates,” said Powell.

Over the three days, Jacko and Macca were joined by volunteers from the brewery who assisted with the collection of funds from the public. All monies raised go directly to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal Fund.
